DescriptionClinical Unit Educator (Nursing) designs, implements, and evaluates unit-based clinical education programs. This role integrates clinical expertise with adult learning principles to support competency development, patient safety, and performance improvement. The Clinical Unit Educator provides direct patient care, supports unit operations, and partners with leadership to align education strategies with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practiceWhat you will doDesign, develop, and implement unit-based education programs, including orientation, competency validation, and ongoing staff developmentEvaluate effectiveness of educational programs through outcomes measurement, competency assessment, and performance improvement dataProvide direct patient care while serving as a clinical resource to support high-acuity nursing practiceCollaborate with unit leadership to identify learning needs, competency gaps, and performance improvement opportunitiesLead and coordinate orientation programs, including preceptor selection, development, and evaluation of orientee progressSupport implementation of new policies, procedures, equipment, and organizational initiatives through targeted educationFacilitate bedside coaching, re-education, and competency validation to ensure safe and effective patient care deliveryServe as liaison between academic partners, students, and clinical staff to support clinical education experiencesParticipate in regulatory readiness, accreditation activities, and compliance with mandatory education requirementsContribute to unit-based and organizational performance improvement initiatives, including quality, safety, and patient outcomesQualificationsEducation QualificationsNursingLicenses and CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS)Experience QualificationsMinimum three (3) years of relevant clinical nursing experienceSkills and AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of nursing practice standards, clinical protocols, and evidence-based care in high-acuity settingsKnowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and competency-based education methodologiesAbility to develop measurable learning objectives, competency tools, and evaluation frameworksProficiency in clinical assessment, critical thinking, and application of nursing judgment in complex patient care scenariosKnowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards, including competency validation and mandatory education requirementsSkill in analyzing performance data to identify gaps and drive targeted education interventionsProficiency in learning management systems, electronic health records, and clinical documentation systemsKnowledge of quality improvement methodologies and performance improvement frameworksAbility to integrate clinical, operational, and educational priorities in a fast-paced trauma environmentStrong facilitation and coaching skills to support competency development and clinical excellenceJob Field: Nursing (LPNs, RNs)Job Type: On SiteOrganization: Florida Health Sciences Center Tampa General HospitalSchedule: Full-timeShift: Day Job
